Individual Volunteers
Volunteers are the heart of the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, participating in every aspect of our operations. In order to serve over 800 hungry families each month, the Food Pantry schedules 200 volunteer hours for tasks ranging from sorting of perishable and non-perishable food items, and assisting neighbors with their shopping, to rescuing food at local grocery stores, to serving our neighbors in need at our pantry food distributions.
To volunteer, please visit our scheduling portal above (Community Volunteer Signup). Once you have created an account, you will be able to sign up for shifts that are available.

Volunteer InformationVolunteering for Groups
We are delighted to host groups at our Food Pantry! Volunteering for the Food Pantry is a great activity for schools, businesses, civic or religious groups.
- For volunteers over 16, we recommend a minimum shift of 3 hours to ensure a meaningful experience.
- In the case of younger volunteers (ages 8-15), shifts are typically 2 hours and consist of sorting donations. We ask for 1:5 adult/youth ratio for supervision.
- In the event you need to change or cancel the number in your group, please notify the Food Pantry as soon as possible.
- Group volunteering is dependent on available tasks, the number of volunteers, the time of day, and if the pantry has available staff to set up and supervise the volunteers. Please wait to hear back from our Volunteer Coordinator before making your plans final.
