We are in need of volunteers to help out with the following ongoing positions:
Weekday and Saturday Morning Food Rescue Truck Driver
The Crystal Lake Food Pantry is looking for a few additional people to drive our Food Rescue Trucks during the week and on Saturdays. We need people who would be available from 7:30 – 9:30 am to go with a partner to various stores in the community. No special license is required and on the job training will be provided. The ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds is required. Interested individuals should contact Tanya Hill at tnthill@comcast.net.
Weekday Morning Bread Delivery Driver (few times per month)
The Crystal Lake Food Pantry is looking for a few individuals to make bread deliveries to Food Pantries in McHenry County using your own vehicle a few times a month. These pantries have expressed a desire for bread but have no way to pick up the bread that they want. The deliveries will need to be made on the day of the week that these other pantries are open, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings. If you are interested, please contact Jason Weisenberger at Director@clfoodpantry.org or call the pantry at 815-455-0961
Stocking Helper (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings)
Stocking Help Needed: We are looking for 1-5 individuals who can help with stocking the pantry on Wednesday or Friday mornings from 7:30 to 9 am and Thursday mornings from 9-10:30 am. These individuals need to be dependable and willing to commit to a weekly volunteer opportunity, attentive to details and able to lift 40 pounds. On the job training will be provided. Please contact Jay Gorski for additional information at jgorski479@gmail.com or to sign up.
Delivery Sorting (Thursday mornings)
NIFB Delivery Sorting: We are looking for 1-3 individuals to assist with taking apart the pallets of products that come to the pantry from the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The time frame is 7:30 – 9:30 am on Thursday mornings. Other considerations are the ability to lift 40 pounds, attention to detail and the willingness to work as a team as well as a willingness to consistently volunteer on Thursday mornings. On the job training will be provided. Please contact Jay Gorski to let him know of your availability at jgorski479@gamil.com.
Bread Sorting Teams (Monday afternoons, Thursday evenings)
The Monday Bread sorting team meets from 12 pm until 3 pm. The Thursday Bread sorting team meets from 4-6 pm. On the job training will be provided. We are looking for people who can make a consistent commitment to the sorting team of their choice as we have found that efficiencies increase by using the same team week after week. Please contact Jason Weisenberger at Director@clfoodpantry.org to volunteer.
Pantry Share Program Volunteers (one Saturday per month)
Pantry Share Program (PSP) volunteers needed: We are looking for 8-10 consistent individuals to work in pairs facilitating our Pantry Share Program. The Pantry Share Program is a program of the Crystal Lake Food Pantry that provides extra produce and bread to the community on Saturday mornings between the hours of 10 am and noon. Volunteers will work with the Team Lead for the Day to determine what is available for the PSP and set up and monitor the shopping area in the back receiving area of the pantry. You need to be able to lift 40 pounds. The time frame is one Saturday a month from 9:30 – noon. If you are interested in volunteering for this unique opportunity, please contact Rachon Miller at volunteermanager@clfoodpantry.org.
