Getting Started

If you are in need of court ordered community service hours and are over the age of 16, please visit our volunteer platform to set up your volunteer account.

In addition to this, please send our Volunteer Manager an email at volunteermanager@clfoodpantry.org with ALL of the following information:

  • Your full name.
  • Number of community service hours you are required to complete for court.
  • The deadline to complete your community service hours.
  • The date you need a verification letter for the hours (if it’s different from the deadline).
  • The reason you are seeking community service placement and the nature of the offense if your reason is court-ordered.
    • PLEASE NOTE: We do not allow individuals to complete hours for offenses related to theft or those of a violent or sexual nature. Your charged offense must be shared with our volunteer coordinator for community service placement consideration.
  • Name of agency assigning the hours (e.g. McHenry County court system)

Our Volunteer Manager will review your application and contact you.

Approval and Hours Completion

After our Volunteer Manager has approved you to complete your hours at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry; an in-person orientation meeting will need to be scheduled (approx. 30-45 minutes). Please be sure to read our  CCV Rules/Guidelines beforehand.

Orientation

You must bring the following to your orientation:

  • A copy of your court order/ticket that states your offense
  • Court Compelled Intake Form (see below)

Scheduling

After you have met with our Volunteer Manager for orientation, you will be eligible to schedule your hours when logged into your volunteer account. The shifts labeled (CCV) are the ones you will need to sign up for. Please note we are closed on Sundays. Each shift is 3-5 hours, please allow yourself plenty of time to complete your hours.

Completion

When you have completed the number of hours required, please see Volunteer Manager Rachon Miller during regular pantry hours. Please ask for a completion letter to be sent to the Court or a lawyer’s office with a copy of your logged hours. Please plan ahead and allow 1-3 business days for the Court system or lawyer to receive your letter.
We hope that you will continue to volunteer even after your hours are completed!
